The Badly Dubbed Adventures of the Great Samanchi Warrior : Episode TWO
by Reece & Jake Donovan
Incomplete: The cuts in this sequence are a lot more rough, as this is an incomplete draft for what was to be a longer sequence.
After the first episode Jake and I discovered that we really enjoyed shooting fight sequences, with creative camera use and angles. This episode was filmed on a different camera (hence the proper ratio), an old FujiFilm FinePix. This camera's movie mode was a gimmicky auxiliary function and hence did not have any audio – early days!
The scene where I swing around a pole to kick Jake was filmed by placing the camera on top our gas supply bottle which was in our backyard. We finished shooting that scene only to look over and discover that the camera had turned away from the action in the wind (was often windy on top of the hill at that house). We were shattered as we thought we had lost the entire sequence, or at least most of it. When we reviewed the footage we found that the camera had actually turned in the wind almost immediately after I make the hit on Jake and we were totally stoked that we did not lose the great take. If you watch closely you can actually see the camera turn slightly at this point.
